Back from the doctor...

We're home now...& it really wasn't fun. The ultrasound went smoothly but it took a while as they had to get images of both her kidneys & her bladder. Then it was off to the radiology dept for the rest of the testing. Even though she was very uncomfortable she did so well, we are so proud of her! It did hurt when the catheter was put in, but she was very brave.

She held it together the whole time the contrast fluid was being put in & that part of the imaging was being done. She even did great when they removed the catheter, but we hit a wall when she realized she was going to have to pee while on the table. She did not like that idea at all! I spent a good 10-15 minutes trying to convince her that after she did that we could go & get ice cream...she still wanted nothing to do with it. She claimed she didn't have to go & wouldn't have to go for a long time. I finally asked her if she wanted daddy instead, so I went to the waiting area took Val & sent him in. I knew that would work, they were done & back out in 10 maybe 15 minutes. She's a daddy's girl & I didn't mind, I was there through the hard part that I knew Fred wouldn't have been able to handle.

So now she's upstairs taking a nap. She woke up last night at about 3am & threw up all over the bathroom :( And woke up not feeling to great this morning, I almost called to reschedule her appointments but as the morning went on she started feeling better so we went. But after we got home she was feeling really tired so Fred took her upstairs & laid down with her for a while.

Oh well that was our day, at least this is behind us now. Hopefully Monday we find out more about the tests.

Update on Sunnie

We finally heard from the hospital...she is going to have (thru outpatient) first an ultrasound on her bladder then a Voiding Cystourethrogram. Basically they're going to insert a catheter & inject a contrast material into her bladder then take pictures(X-rays) of her bladder from different angles.

Then from what I understand will have her pee & take more X-rays while she's peeing to gain more of a picture about what is going on with her. I was finally able to explain this to her thanx to a handout I found online here:
http://www.ucsfhealth.org/childrens/medical_services/urology/uti/vcug.html

When I told her about it she asked me if it would hurt, I told her I don't know it might. She then tells me "That's ok, it hurt when I got my ears pierced too & I didn't mind too much."

So wish us luck & I'll update about it when I can!

TEETH!!!!

What do I find this morning but a little spot on his lower gums where you can see there is a tooth trying to come in!!! It kinda surprised me cause he hasn't shown any discomfort at all, he did have a slightly runny nose yesterday & today but that's it. I wonder how the rest of it is going to go...I really, really hope he doesn't take to biting me :-)

Valden is sitting up on his own now!!! He first did it Friday (the 11th) in the grass in the front yard. He's still a little wobbly on the carpet but does very well in the grass.

And he's signed his first sign! LOL Of course it was milk! And he does it ALOT but its sooo cute!

Still no word from the Dr.

About when they are going to get her in for the ultrasound. I hate playing the waiting game with this...We are having a whole new set of problems with her that I really can't deal with one way or the other until I find out if her having accidents is because of bladder problems or other reasons.
But let me tell you it is frustrating to say the least!!! Still having accidents (at least 2-3 a day) & this morning she was sitting on a blanket in front of her dresser looking for some clothes to wear to school, she calls me up there to help her find something & I stepped on the blanket...it was wet :( I tried not to lose my cool, but the bathroom is right next to their bedroom! I just wish we could get this done & over with sooner than later!

Wish us luck!

Where i live...

I haven't touched on this yet but I have a few moments so I figured I should while I'm thinking about it...

I'm really happy with where I live & being a breastfeeding mom. There are so many laws that protect me & my choices.

~*~Fred & I have gone shopping for a new printer at Staples & had a male associate help us, the whole time I'm walking around the store talking to the salesman Val was nursing & didn't even blink an eye.

~*~Twice I've gone to parent meetings at Sunnie's preschool & in the middle of having a speaker doing their presentation Val decided it was time to eat, I didn't have to think twice, just un-clipped my bra & (discreetly) let him at it! If anyone was offended they surely didn't express it to me! And even if they did if would've been like water off a duck's ass! LOL

~*~I've walked the entire length of our mall with him attached & never had anyone even take a second look. These are also thanx to my ever increasing wardrobe of nursing clothes...mostly Motherwear (they have great sales) & Motherhood Nursing (also pretty affordable)

And many other instances that have escaped me now that I am siting down to type them out!
I just wish the rest of the nation could accept life & give all nursing mothers' the rights they are entitled to.

6 month check-up

I took Val to his 6 month well baby visit & he's doing great! He weighed in at 17 1/2 lbs & is 27 inches long, his Dr. said he's in the 50th percentile for his weight & 60th for his height. I think his head circumference was 43 cm. On the sucky note he got got 3 shots which he did fairly well with, the nurse was great & got them done & over with really fast. As soon as I got to pick him up he was doing much better! I nursed him right after & he fell asleep & slept the whole was home. Of course he woke up as I was trying to fix lunch. Right now he's watching a Baby Einstein video (he really likes those!)
